Getting Started
Providing a summary allows you to present your conclusions and opportunities for future research. You review and communicate the summary in the papers. You present visual representations of the data to give meaning to the raw data through a PowerPoint presentation.
In order to successfully complete this exercise, you should be able to:

Review the Word document about summarizing a research paper.
Practice with the research paper.

Instructions

Read WS6-1_Summary_Section.
Answer these four questions. Put your answers in a new Word document named WS6-2 Answers.

Do you update page numbers in the TOC before or after the summary section (Before or After )?
Facts and interpretations from the analysis drive conclusions and recommendations (True or False)?
If the research data set is small, one opportunity for future research is to gather a more exhaustive set of data to analyze (True or False)?
What are the three major sections of the summary?

Each of the four questions is worth 15 points, for a total of 60 points possible for this assignment.
When you have completed your assignment, save a copy for yourself and submit a copy to your instructor by the end of the workshop.

6.2 Assignment: Pick Additional Data Set
 
Getting Started
Learning a technique is one thing. Using that technique on a whole new data set is a greater achievement and shows a maturity in the skill. This assignment challenges you to use the new skills on a new situation. Which variables to use within the data set is up to you.
In order to successfully complete this assignment, you should be able to:

Practice using a technique learned on a new data set.

Instructions

Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for earning your grade.
Pick a data set from the original list that is not one you have used so far.

Choose whatever variables and raw data you need to perform a chi-square analysis.
Perform a chi-square analysis on that data set.
Write up the analysis to include the summary table and the common statistics involved.
Name the files WS6-2_Analysis and WS6-2_Excel.
The Excel file will be based on the Chi-Square 10 by 10 template.  
When you have completed your assignment, save copies for yourself and submit copies to your instructor by the end of the workshop.

6.4 Assignment: Create Summary Sections
 
Getting Started
After the prior activities, the summary section can be written for the research report.
In order to successfully complete this assignment, you should be able to:

Write part of the summary section for a data set.

Background Information
This is one of the more detailed assignments in this course. You will write your summary section for the report. 

Instructions

Study the Research Report Patients.docx and IWU Patients files.
In your report fill out the summary section, including any conclusions and future research that should be done.
When you have completed your assignment, save copies for yourself and submit a copy of the research report to your instructor by the end of the workshop.
