Reflection Assignment
(Worth up to 30 pts for two pages (500 words; two pages))
          Think back to the first day of this online class.  We have covered many topics within Psychology of Women, including history, social constructs, gender roles and gender self-identity, feminism, intersectionality, diversity, privilege, equality vs equity, and childhood trauma having lifelong effects on brain and behavior. 
          Provide specific examples of ways in which your views, behaviors and insights regarding yourself and others have developed. Include the influence of topics covered in the textbook, in discussions and assignments, viewed in video clips, and documentaries, shared in interactions with students and in discussions you have had with others outside of class.
          Concepts included psychological, sociological, biological, cultural, racial, and political aspects of inequality of women and other social classes. Power and control as factors manipulating inequality, from viewing women as property which increases the likelihood of “othering”.  Women were encouraged to enter the workforce during World War II, and then the course was reversed as the men returned home.  Women were forced to leave high paying jobs and offered lower paying jobs as men were viewed as controlling finances. Violence, including rape, in the home was viewed as the woman’s fault. Scientific and sociological evidence has shown that children and adults have long-term changes to brain activity due to stress; that physical violence can magnify the physical and mental health damage. Laws proposed, passed, and being re-submitted to the courts for reversal was discussed.
          Provide examples of ways in which your interests, views and relationships with others have evolved over the course of the past five weeks.  If you are energized to reach out to local and/or global communities now or into the future, briefly explain your plans and/or goals regarding involvement in helping lead the way toward helping others via conversations, education, service, career, etc.  What can you take with you to apply toward your career goals?  Answer in detail:  how, why, what next…

          Answer in paragraph format, using professional tone and language.  Double spaced, using Arial Font, size 12.  Paragraph indent 0.5″. Submit in the assignment as a doc, docx, PDF or rtf format.       
          This assignment should be completed after Nov 30th and submitted by Dec 7th 9:59 pm, to earn a higher grade (accepted through Dec 14th 1:59 pm. (Earn up to 30 points if submitted by the deadline on Dec 7th; up to 20 if submitted by Dec 14th 1:59 pm).
