Part 1: Chronology (length 1 – 2 pages)
In this section, you will identify any notable events pertaining to your family, friends,
school, and activities, for each of the developmental periods noted below and discuss
how these experiences/events have shaped your own development; e.g. having a sibling
with special needs, working or volunteering with young children or youth, witnessing
family violence, etc. Write one paragraph for each category.

Part 2: Significant Events/ Experiences (length 2 – 3 pages)
Elaborate on three (3) of the experiences presented in the chronology. Describe each
event and write a reflection on how each of these experiences might have affected your
interest in working with children and youth.
Part 3: Reflections: Goals for Child|and Ybuth Care (length 1 page)
Discuss your major interests in child and youth care at the present time; e.g. Early
Childhood Education, youth care, children with developmental disabilities, elementary or
secondary teaching, child life (hospitals), family resource, recreation, etc. Discuss at
least one of the above areas that is of interest to you, and describe some of your
professional and/or academic goals for learning more about this area; i.e. courses,
volunteer work, employment. If you are not a child and youth study student, state your
goals for the course, noting areas of the profession in which you would like to place a
major focus this term.
