In addition to the primary text(s) (the novels), you use scholarly sources to support the point you choose to argue / contend regarding coming of age experiences, novels / fiction, black girlhoods, etc. Most likely, these sources are the ones you identified in your Annotated Bibliography; however, you may choose to use other / alternative sources depending on the direction of your thesis and paper.As a slight adjustment, papers should be a strong 6 pages, minimum, no more than 10, not including the Works Cited. Be sure to include 5-7 scholarly sources — scholarship about the novel itself, the author’s wrting style, coming-of-age literature, black girlhood, and so forth as needed. Papers should follow MLA style in citations and overall formatting.
