Read and respond to the following two posts.

POST 1:
Frederick Taylor published, “Principles of Scientific Management” and his theory has now been applied to many employers in the workforce industry. Taylor’s theory began with the first step is analyzing the job, selecting the qualified candidates for the job, and providing the proper training to its employees and provide managers that are actual leaders to it’s employees. I work at NYU Langone Health which is a New York based company and it is very organized as a company should be structured. At my job, the executives have created certain jobs for departments to oversee and these certain jobs contribute in some way towards the organizations goals. Once that job is created to contribute to the goal, the next step is selecting a candidate that is meets the certain requirements it takes for these positions. In this case, I was selected for my clinical analyst and strategy position due to meeting the qualifications for this job. I was provided a 3 week training and was assigned an amazing manager named Jeremy that supports his team. This is a real world situation in where scientific management was applied for me.

POST 2:

Fredrick Winslow Taylor started the Scientific Management movement. Taylor’s philosophy focused on the belief that making people work as hard as they could was not as efficient as optimizing the way the work was done. He proposed that by optimizing and simplifying jobs, productivity would increase. He also advanced the idea that workers and managers needed to cooperate with one another. Now that I’ve gone over the history of scientific management I will now share the time I employed a scientific management style at home to accomplish a task.

As a mom with a toddler I have learned I need more than one way of dealing with the meltdowns, good and bad behavior. In other words “replace rule-of-thumb work methods with methods based on scientific study of the tasks and determine the most efficient way to perform specific tasks.” I realized yelling or trying to inflict pain which is the “rule-of-thumb” when trying to discipline a child. Not only did it not last very long but my child would became immune to it. I then decided to study my son and his reactions to certain things. Which helped complete my task of altering the way I handle his meltdowns, bad an good behavior in a more positive and effective way.
