In preparation for your audience insights assignment, please submit as your discussion for this week a draft set of questions that you will ask your focus group participants to respond to the assigned research questions.
Not all the research questions below may be applicable to your project; only answer the ones that are relevant.
Research Questions:

What is your target audiences understanding or misunderstanding of your topic
What is your target audiences perceptions of current messaging about your topic
What does/does not motivate them
Reactions to different persuasive appeals
Ideal communication vehicles and tactics
Do they have topic-specific opinions: what do you think about (whatever your specific campaign idea is)
Where to they get information on this topic and who do they see as opinion leaders?

Research questions are not the same as the specific questions you will ask your participants during the focus group.  The specific questions to the participants will vary depending on your topic.
Your Focus Group Guide should include a brief description of the purpose of the focus group that you will provide to your participants, between 6 and 10 OPEN ENDED questions that will help answer the research questions above that apply to your project, and a closing/thank you statement.
Your opening questions should be “ice breakers” that are easy to answer and ease your participants to the more in-depth questions.
