Fiction Film Analysis Paper

PROFESSOR INSTRUCTIONS:

Please choose one of the two following options:

1) Documentary Analysis

Guidelines

Watch a feature-length documentary of your choosing, then write an analysis to include the following:

Write a 2-3 paragraph description of the film. Include name of filmmaker/s and year of release. Identify the films: objective, structure, style (visual look/feel), and themes.

Write a 2-3 paragraph review of the film. What is your response to the film? What are the films strengths? Do you feel any aspect could have been done better? How does the films format, structure, and style choices help tell the films story and themes? What do you think the target audience/s are for this film?

 1-1/2 or more pages total

-or- 

 2) Fiction Film Analysis

Watch a feature-length fiction film of your choosing, then write an analysis of at least two of the following elements:

1. Directing

2. Cinematography

3. Editing

4. Sound design

5. Production design

You can start with 2 to 3 paragraphs discussing the film in general, as you would do for the documentary film analysis. You could then focus on at least two of the five elements mentioned above, studying and analyzing a few characteristic scenes. If you choose to discuss the cinematography, editing and production design, it is recommended to watch the selected scenes with and without sound, so as to better focus on the visual component of the film.

PLEASE read everything carefully especially the professor’s instructions. I have chosen the Fiction Film Analysis. Please watch John Wick (PART ONE, it is a trilogy so watch only the 1st movie) directed by Chad Stahelski and follow the instructions for the Film Analysis paper.
