AOC in the instructions is Area of concentration. In this case that translates to Computer Science.

Journal Analysis and Evaluation (JAE)
Brief Description

-Find three credible, peer-reviewed academic/research journals that are the best sources of the newest ideas, discussion, and research in your AOC. These journals should have a high level of credibility among people who work or study in your AOC or the specialties involved with your AOC.
–Analyze and evaluate each journal using the same or similar criteria so that you are able to identify significant similarities and differences.

Requirements

At least 3 typed pages, double-spaced, in 12 point Times New Roman font.
An analysis and evaluation of three academic/research journals that are representative of the way your field/area/occupation communicates and investigates new ideas and knowledge. You can use some of the “Questions/Criteria for doing a Journal Analysis” (found in this module) to accomplish this, but you should use the same criteria to analyze all three journals so that you can compare them on equal terms.
These journals should be academic/professional journals or trade publication/magazines or credible resources specialized in your AOC. No newspapers (online or off) or general audience magazines should be used. I will approve or not approve of your forums when you propose them to me in the “My Three Journals” assignment (found in this module). More on that later.
Your JAE must be posted as an attachment in the correct forum of Discussions by the due date. It must be posted as a .pdf or a .doc/.docx or a .rtf file. I will not accept other file types. And the name of your file must be your last name and the word “journals.” For example, my name is David Marshall, so my file name would be marshalljournals.doc

Tips and Suggestions
You will obviously need to use the library and perhaps the library staff to get access to many academic/professional journals and trade publications. The “Library” page is a good place to start.   Take a significant amount of time to familiarize yourself with the Library resources. You will find resources like library hours, phone numbers, email addresses to ask for help, Web by topic links, and much more.
To analyze each journal, you may have to find :

example issues and example articles from the journal
publisher’s pages on the Internet that give information about the journal, like submission requirements, goals of the journal, and much more.

There are several videos and readings that will help you accomplish the goals of this project, so be sure to read, re-read, and watch the videos as many times as it takes. There are also “JAE student samples” found in this module that are actual projects done by past students.
