Intelligence Led Policing

Research Brief
For this assignment, you will research and write a short (minimum of 3 pages) research paper.
Research briefs are mini research papers that allow you to explore a topic area that interests you. Your brief must be at least 3 pages in length. This is a formal writing assignment and will be graded as such. Research Briefs should be in APA format (for help with APA see the APA Resource Folder in Blackboard Learn). The topic must be related to this course, i.e., organizations, procedures, policies and issues related to intelligence data collection, analysis, and technology. This will allow you to explore a topic area that interests you. Examples may include:

Intelligence Fusion Centers
Suspicious Activity Reporting
History of Law Enforcement Intelligence
Intelligence-Led Policing
Crime Analysis
The Intelligence Cycle

You will need to have your topic area approved by me. Please send me an email and let me know what you would like to do. Remember, this is an academic paper. Please make sure you use the resources available to you through the Cline Library, as well as readings posted for this course. 
Paper Guidelines:

Research briefs must be a minimum of three pages (Not including title page or reference page)
An abstract is NOT required
Minimum of five APPROVED government and/or scholarly sources

If you are not sure what an academic or scholarly source is, please ask me

Prepare a proper, APA formatted research paper: Title page, introduction with a clearly defined thesis statement, fully developed paragraphs, conclusion, in-text citations, and a reference page.
Do NOT use the first-person
Use subheadings to divide the main points of your paper
Do not use bullet points or long quotes in your paper, instead, summarize the information and cite the source

Wikipedia, Cliffnotes.com, blogs, and other types of websites are not appropriate for upper-division course work and will result in a lower score.
