lovers across the river

There was a river that was fast and dangerous. The river could only be crossed by boat. Any other attempt to cross the river in any other way was perilous. 
On one side of the river lived Tom, Jane and Richard. Tom and Richard own a boat. On the other side of the river lived Harry and John. Harry and John own a boat.
Harry loves Jane and he wants to marry her. However, as soon as Jane realizes that Harry is the man for her, Harry’s boat is destroyed. So Harry can not get to his love, Jane.
Jane, who lives on the other side of the dangerous river which can only be crossed by boat, was eager to be with her love, Harry.  So, she goes to Tom and asks him to take her across the river to be with the man
she was about to marry. Tom says, “…sure, I’ll take you across the river in the morning if you sleep with me tonight. Jane refuses.
Jane then goes to Richard and says, ‘Hey Dick, Harry and I are in love and we are going to be married, but his boat has been destroyed and he can not get to me. I asked Tom to take me across the river, but he said
he would only do that if I slept with him, and I’m not going to do that because I love Harry. Will you take me across the river to be with my love?” Richard replies, ”   get lost, thats your problem.
Jane thinks it over and decides to accept Tom’s offer. In the morning Tom takes her across the river and leaves her on the river bank. He immediately returns to the other side of the river.
Harry sees Jane from a distance and overjoyed he rushes to her. They embrace. While they are hugging Jane begins to tremble, and she whispers in Harry’s ear what she did to get to him. Harry drops his arms from
Jane, steps back and says, “…I can’t marry you anymore; to do so would violate my moral convictions”.
Jane begins to weep uncontrollably at the river’s edge. John approaches Jane and consoles her.
