Market Yourself: Build Your Personal Brand

Please just make up the following things, doesn’t matter what exactly you write, I don’t feel comfortable sharing with others my career planning, just make it consistent and make sense.

Step 1: Identify Your Targetand State Your Objectives for Your Next Career Move
 
Note: Even if this is notyour ultimate goal, please think about the next major step you need to take andwhen you will achieve it.
 
a)    Identifyyour specific target industry or field.
b)    Identifyyour specific target company, graduate school or organization.
c)     Identifyyour specific objective (i.e. your target job/position).
d)    Statethe primary reason why you are passionate about this career path.
e)    State thetitle of who you would likely be reporting to (this is your Ultimate target). This is important-because this project will help you to define how to convince this human beingthat you are the best choice for the position.
f)      What isyour timeline for achieving this goal?
 
Step 2: Analyze Your Target Define their Qualifying and Determining Dimensions.
        #1-3: List 3 qualifying dimensions for yourtarget organization and field and your Ultimate target.
        #1-2: List 2 determining dimensions for your ultimatetarget. Note: cite your sources.
        Rationale/Support: Use secondary research to supportyour points. Bespecific- support your thoughts with documented facts. Use more than one source.
Step 3: Analyze Yourself(Complete Strengths and Weaknesses portion of a SWOT)
        Think about the Ultimate targets needs. Listthree strengths. These should link to the benefits that you can provideto your target. Why should they buy (i.e. hire/select) you over yourcompetition?
        Use specific examples to support yourpoints (i.e. dont just say that you have strong leadership skills, give yourtarget audience a specific reason to believe). This is bullet pointedhere- it does not have to be a full story- just enough to demonstrate thestrength.
        Weakness- We all have them. Example: I amnervous speaking in public. What will you do to overcome this weakness? Bespecific here. Avoid statements like I plan to speak more in class.  Too general and not measurable. Better: Iplan to join (XYZ) organization in Feb. 20XX and make at least two presentationsto the members by June 20XX.  Thisstatement shows a solid commitment to overcome the weakness and measure yourprogress.
