Overview
As a portfolio manager, you will regularly analyze investments and review company financial records to gather data. You must be prepared to present these facts in a logical and unbiased manner. The focus of this assignment is on research and investment options. You will practice these research and analytical skills in terms of assessing investment options.

Prompt
In this assignment, you will create an Excel spreadsheet with data calculations and a Word document detailing your findings. Be sure to review the Mergent Online tutorials included in the Resources section of Module One. In this activity, you will examine the Project One Portfolio Calculation Template Excel spreadsheet provided in the Supporting Materials section, and research any five company stocks within the portfolio using the search tool in Mergent Online. Once you find your company in the list and click on it, select the far-right tab, called Company Reports, and choose Equity Reports to view the data. You will obtain information on each company based on your research. Once you have gathered information on each company, explain your findings in a Word document and show your work in the Project One Portfolio Calculation Template Excel spreadsheet.

Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:

For each of the five company stocks you choose, identify positive and negative factors within the portfolio. Consider the following in your identification:

Which factors determine the stocks valuation?
What data points indicate the direction of the stock price?

Describe how each stock is rated compared with its peers and the valuation method(s) used to determine this. Discuss the following data points for each investment:

Equity valuation ratios, such as price/earnings (P/E) ratio
52-week price changes
Moving average
Earnings
Risk ratios

Explain additional considerations used for valuation from your investigation of the financials for each investment.

What to Submit
Submit a 1- to 2-page Microsoft Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins explaining your findings, and submit the Project One Portfolio Calculation Template Excel spreadsheet to show your data calculations (evidence). Sources should be cited according to APA style.
