Writing an Effective Paragraph
When writing an effective paragraph, it is important to ensure that each paragraph includes a main idea and supporting details for that main idea. Below you will find the resources to help you understand writing an effective paragraph. You can locate these and many other resources in the Purdue Global Writing Center.

Once you have read the information about “Writing an Effective Paragraph,” submit the practice assignment below by completing the following:

Open Microsoft Word.
Type your name at the top of the page.
Consider what you have learned about effective writing in this orientation course.
Write two paragraphs that briefly define effective writing in your own words and identify your writing strengths and weaknesses.

Name your file and save it on your computer with the naming convention PG160_Last NameFirst Name (remember where you saved it).

Submit your practice assignment via the Course Dropbox using the instructions below:

Select the Effective Writing Assignment Dropbox.
Review the assignment directions and enter a brief note to the instructor in the Comment Box (e.g., “Attached is my writing assignment.”)
Select the Add a File button.
Select the upload button. Find the file you saved.
Double click on your file name.
Select the Add button.
Select Submit.

Your instructor will use the grading rubric below to assess your work. Once your professor has graded your Assignment, it will be returned to your inbox with feedback.
