Instructions:Write a paper of less than 1,000 words that describes the ways in which plant reproductive parts (specifically, flowers, fruits and seeds) vary, why variation matters for plant success across different environments and how variation depends on other plant traits. Include references to scientific literature to back up your statements. This means all of your statements – do not make suppositions based on what you know that are not backed up by literature. Literature can include scientific articles and books. Please include a hyperlink as shown below (no need for a list of references at end, aka bibliography):Figs that are larger and green tend to be eaten by bats (Lomascalo et al. 2010).*note – you can create hyperlinks in Word by highlighting the text, then going to the “Insert” drop down menu at the top, then clicking “hyperlink.” Quotations are prohibited. Also, copying text verbatim, without quotes, but with a citation, is plagiarism.To be clear, your paper should include two separate sections focusing, respectively, on 2 of the 3 options: flowers, fruits and seeds. Within each of these sections, you should include the following components:1. Choose one trait for which the specific plant reproductive part differs/vary (e.g., a trait of fruits is color). Give 4 examples of taxa that exemplify variation along this trait axis (i.e. 4 example taxa that don’t all have the same trait value- fruit color in my example). ‘Flower’ is not a single trait, you must pick some specific trait that varies on each reproductive part.2. Describe this variation in the trait (from #1), and discuss why the trait matters for these plants’ success.3. Explain why the trait matters in the context of environmental variation (that is, how does the trait interact with environment? Or, what environments might be best for different values of this trait?)4. Explain why the trait matters in the context of variation in one other trait (that is, how does this trait interact with other genetic or phenotypic characteristics of plants?)Finally, bonus points may be given for particularly interesting/lesser known traits, e.g. fruit color or seed size would not get bonus points. Your paper will be due, to be uploaded to Canvas, by class time on Tuesday October 19.
