Public Service Announcement for Bilingual Education

Create a Public Service Announcement (PSA) on a current issue or practice in ESL/bilingual education (this can be, but does not have to be, related to your Personal Inquiry project). 
Often in the form of commercials and print ads, PSAs are created to persuade an audience to take a favorable action. PSAs can create awareness, show the importance of a problem or issue, convey information, or promote a behavioral change ().
Your PSA should create awareness, show the importance of a problem/issue, convey information, or promote a change that is research-based and relevant to our coursework and to the education of emergent bilinguals. It should be geared toward a specific audience (one that is relevant to your chosen topic) and should have a specific goal. You can create your PSA as either:
 3 print PSAs – here you will strategically combine text and images to create 3 prints that educate your audience about your topic and persuade them to take a specific action. Examples of effective print PSAs:
30-60 second video PSA – create a short video that educates your audience about your topic and persuades them to  take a specific action. Examples of effective video PSAs can be found .
In addition to your print oPSA, you will write a ~2 page paper that answers the following questions:

Who is the audience for my PSA? Why is this an important audience for my chosen topic/issue?

What do I want my specific audience to understand about my chosen topic/issue? What is my message?

What is the call to action? What do I want my audience to do with the information I provide about my chosen topic/issue? 

Why is this topic/issue important in the education of emergent bilinguals?

This assignment meets the following TESOL-CAEP indicators and will be graded using the Assignment 3 rubric, which can be found under Grading:
2a. Candidates demonstrate knowledge of how dynamic academic, personal, familial, cultural, and social contexts, including sociopolitical factors, impact the education of ELLs. 
2b. Candidates demonstrate knowledge of research and theories of cultural and linguistic diversity and equity that promote academic and social language learning for ELLs. 
5b. Candidates apply knowledge of school, district, and governmental policies and legislation that impact ELLs educational rights in order to advocate for ELLs.
