paper with a thesis that relates to race and education. You don’t have to agree with the conclusions of the articles
you choose; you may use the articles for facts or opinions and then form your own conclusions. Note: Your grade
is not based on whether I agree or disagree with your opinion.
Here are some possible ways you can organize your paper, although there are other valid ways to do it:
 We should (or shouldn’t) be concerned about teaching critical race theory in high schools for three reasons.
 The criticism of critical race theory is (or is not) overblown for three reasons.
 To correctly teach about race or racism in history classes, we should keep in mind three things.
 Three things about racism in U.S. history that should be better known are 1, 2, and 3.
 When trying to teach about race, teachers can be excessive when they do 1, 2, and 3.
 Three important things about race that should be part of any U.S. history curriculum are 1, 2, and 3.
 The law against teaching critical race theory in high schools is justified (or unjustified) for three reasons.
 The use of new terms to describe groups of people is helpful (or unhelpful) for three reasons.

Each source that you quote from must be listed in your Works Cited page. (I have provided you with the Works
Cited entries on Blackboard.) If you paraphrase, which does not count as a quotation, you must still use a
citation—and remember for paraphrases you may never simply copy the text and change words (that’s plagiarism).
