Research Log 
Ensure that you include any and all sources that you looked at for your research paper.  The log is documentation of your research– sites, articles, essays, films etc. that you looked at to determine if they are a “good fit” for your paper.  Every article you use DOES NOT have to discuss your topic.  You can APPLY IDEAS that relate to your topic. 
EX: (I am sticking with the photography example from Week 11)

I could find an essay about graffiti or breakdancing as street art/expression and apply the discussion to my argument about photography becoming a street art. 
I could find an article about using photography to document social injustice, police brutality etc. and apply this to my argument as well.
I could find an article about visual art in general and apply it to my argument

Truncate your search.  EX: Photo* This is an example of truncation.  Anything with photo, photography, photographer etc. will come up. This is especially useful with the UCC databases.
if you don’t like a source don’t use it but put it in the research log. 
The log should be over a course of days; this means the date you looked at sources, (the first box) should include more than one date (unless you spent an entire day just looking for sources).  YOU MUST include MORE THAN FIVE SOURCES.  IT MUST INCLUDE WHAT YOU WILL USE AND WHAT YOU WILL NOT USE.  If you run out of cells in the table, hit tab and/or insert cells for additional rows
