Synthesis Sample
These synthesis paragraphs will help build your body of content for PHASE II: The Annotated Bibliography & Synthesis. Peer review of your post keeps everyone accountable for writing and revising on schedule and with your audience in mind. Take the time to write a thoughtful draft and give meaningful feedback. 
 A Scaffolding Assignment
This assignment is pretty straightforward.
1. Compose a short sample (2-3 paragraphs will do) of the secondary-source synthesis you’re developing for your Annotated Bibliography & Synthesis assignment.
2. Read and give thoughtful feedback to your peer-review partner for their paragraphs.
 
 The Prompt
Write

Write a short sample synthesis (2-3 strong paragraphs),

Introduce all authors discussed in the paragraphs as they come up, 
Cite any sources using APA in-text citation format (Downs, 2017, p. 464) (see in-text table here  Download in-text table here or check EasyWriter) 
Synthesize content from two or more secondary sources,
Explain how the authors contribute to answering your research questions, 

Reply

In comments, give thorough, specific feedback about how to improve:

Clarity of purpose,
Clarity of writing,
Quality of synthesis, and/or
Use of in-text citations.

DO NOT:

Do not synthesize primary sources–secondary only!
Do not include a full references page–in-text only is fine.
Do not include all authors you plan to use in the final paper. A few will do.

However, you will need to use them all in the full draft of the synthesis, so use this as practice, and then incorporate feedback you receive into the final draft. 

Do not just tell your peers that they did a “good job.” That does not help them revise or improve.

Tell them what’s missing!
Tell them what’s confusing!
Tell them how to revise something! 
Tell them what you noticed on the assignment prompt that they seem to have missed!

 Reminder
Most of all, remember that to synthesize is to make new knowledge by combining existing knowledge through your own learning process.
