Details about the Major Report:

You will use data generated by yourself and other classmates
How is the data generated?

Each student measured pulse before and after doing 20 some form of cardiovascular activity (examples could include jumping jacks, hopping up and down like jumping rope, rowing, or really anything remotely similar – talk with me if you have questions)
Read this to learn how to we will measure our heart rate (everyone needs to use this same method for consistency) (Links to an external site.)

The working hypothesis you should use is “Aerobic activity increases heart rate (BPM)”
BPM = beats per minute

What you need to do:

This report needs to be a minimum of 1,500 words
This lab report should be taken seriously, and be worked on throughout the next few weeks
I am willing to look over anyone’s lab report and give feedback, as long as you show it to me before December 1st, 2021

Because I am willing to look over it, there is no reason to stress about this

You will need to do internet research to fill in the gaps of how to do this study; how would you build the experiment; how would you test the hypothesis
You must include one barchart that compares before and after BPM levels (full credit requires you to label all axes); you may need help from me for this, no worries

Another thing to consider is to watching a few Excel graph making tutorials on YouTube

You also must include a table of the data

The lab report is 20% of your laboratory grade; here are the important components that affects your score:

Formatting is by-far the most important component. Please see the sample lab report to use as a model.

Mandatory sections needed include:

Title page
Abstract is optional
Introduction (background and setting up the ‘why’ of the study)
Materials and Methods
Results (just presenting the data)
Discussion (this is a discussion of WHY you found what you found, and how to potentially explain it)
No need for acknowledgements
Literature cited page

Make sure all components of the scientific method are in place
Do not plagiarize
Compile the document in an MS Word file, and submit through Canvas
