Module 8 Strategic Recommendation to Management of Ralph Lauren

You’ve analyzed your Target Company (Ralph Lauren) finding strategic dilemmas, making hypotheses to solve problem(s) and you’ve looked across the value chain to help understand what the tradeoffs and effects if you suggest changes. I will attach previous discussions about Ralph Lauren in the uploaded files. Now you are going to make recommendations to management – essentially a strategic recommendation memo – where you will cover the following:

       Revisit the strategic dilemma(s) you outlined in previous board assignments: 
o   Give an overview of the dilemma and the risk it represents
o   Given your analysis do you still believe these dilemmas are relevant and pose a risk? Perhaps you’ve uncovered something new. IF you found something new, mention the pivot and why.
       Pick one of your Strategic Hypotheses (from previous weeks) and make it a Strategic Recommendation. If it’s no longer relevant, make a new one and make the case for why it matters.  
o   Discuss WHY you picked the Strategic Recommendation that you’ve picked 
o   List some of the long-term benefits of this recommendation
o   List some of the risks and trade-offs (this is where you want to look at value chain. For example, if you’re Disney and launch Disney Plus you are not competing with Netflix and a tradeoff is you may want to pull Marvel content from Netflix which will lead to a loss of distribution and “eyeballs” from a very popular platform partner.)

REMEMBER to refer back your own analyses and insights AND use lessons and models from the class in your responses. You will at the very least use 3 of our class concepts in this assignment. These do not have to be long form analyses. Bullets and short form paragraphs (2-5 sentences each) is fine. 

       Peer Response Postings: Respond to the Individual Postings of at least two peers offering an additional insight as to a dilemma, recommendation and/or impact/trade-off for them to consider that has not already been discussed. Response Postings should be substantive postings (offer new information), contributing to and advancing the examination of the questions at hand. Every response posting must include at least one reference and citation. Response postings must be at least two paragraphs (with 3 to 8 sentences each). Peers Discussions will be attached in the uploaded files.
