Below are the instructions from my professor: 

Please draft two paragraphs concerning a proposed topic for your research paper and presentation which will be due later this semester.  One paragraph concerning the topic and a second paragraph indicating why it is important.  Please post your two paragraphs concerning your proposed topic by 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, October 5th.  You will be able to change your topic at a later date in the event that you wish to do so.
I will review your proposed topic and provide individual feedback.  Submission of a draft outline and preliminary identification of reference sources will be due on October 19th.

Possible topics to consider include:  desirable characteristics of police or correctional leaders; leading police departments or correctional agencies in times of scarce resources and limited budgets; the role of police, correctional, public safety, or judicial leadership and management in an era of criminal justice reform;  the role of police, correctional, public safety or judicial leadership and management in guiding the exercise of employee discretion, addressing diversity within and outside criminal justice agencies, balancing service and enforcement/compliance; leadership, management and community policing and/or compstat; participatory management in police, corrections or public safety agencies; the role of leadership and management with respect to issues of racial profiling and stereotyping, preventing terrorism, or other issues of your choice.  The above list is not exhaustive.

Your paper and related power-point & video presentations will be due at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, November 30th, after the Thanksgiving holiday.  This will allow your colleagues to view your presentation and provide feedback prior to the end of the semester.  Expected length: 10 pages double-spaced typed, not including the title page.  APA 7th format for in-text citations and reference list.  Additional instructions concerning preparation, submission, and delivery of a video presentation to follow.
