The purpose of screening the motion picture is to give you a window on the events when the United States of America and the Union of Soviet Socialists Republics nearly collided in a nuclear war that would have ended most of the life on this small planet. 
The purpose of studying the Cuban Missile Crisis is to understand presidential leadership in a crisis.  It is important for students to recognize that presidents have the power of launching nuclear missiles that could end our lives.  How and why these situations arise is the most important aspect of a presidents war making abilities.  The president has sole use and authorization of nuclear weapons.  Next to appointing Supreme Court Justices the presidents nuclear power is the most important of his or her powers. 
Please consider and answer the following questions in an essay with a minimum of 1200 words.  Answers the following questions and support your answers with citations. Your paper should be a minimum of 1200 words. You do not need a cover sheet or a bibliography or works cited page. You do not need a title sheet. Type your paper as a Microsoft Word essay and copy it and place it in the submission box in Canvas.
If you cant access these articles because of a paywall, first consider getting a student subscription to these newspapers. This is what educated people dothey read newspapers of national interest. You can also access the articles through the HCCS library system. Please check with the library how to use their access for these articles. You can also use Google to get passed the paywall.
Students should only use these articles in their paper.  No other articles should be used because frankly it should be obvious that your paper is your work and not purchased through some paper writing service. 
Read the above articles and use them to answer specific questions in these instructions.  You will be graded on that aspect of this assignment which is 25% of your total grade for this course.  You should cite these articles in your paper using the MLA method of citation.  (The Chicago Manual of Style is used by historians and political scientists but I am not going to teach it to you and you probably have no interest in using it.)

Where are we now? Is there a danger of a nuclear war today?  What is the NPR and do we need more new nuclear weapons?
