Only reputable academic sources are allowed.Adding Research to your Text AnalysisNow that you have supported your thesis using the text asevidence you may go outside for secondary sources. The research paper is the same paper as the first one exceptnow you have to use outside sources and add a work cited page.Following the MLA style, you must include the author andname of text that you will use. It might be a book, a journal, a magazinearticle, or a website source. The outside sources you choose to incorporateinto your text analysis must be related to your thesis and must help you proveyour argument even further.Remember, outside sources are not there to prove yourthesis, they are there to help you do it, therefore introduction andincorporation of secondary sources must be handled with skill and logistics ofyour argument.Possible starting places for your text analysis include an author’s life, politics, the social context of the work,philosophical musings, law, technology,medicine, psychology, or how and why the work evokes a particularfeeling in you, cultural relevance, or the components of the text such as thesignificance of setting, narrative voice, imagery, or symbolism. Or, perhaps you will read a criticalapproach to the text and use it as a springboard for your own ideas, or,you may wish to explore the relationship between elements of the text (How doessetting influence character?).
