Unit 3 Discussion Board: Criminal Background

Golfing is known as being a sport that can get expensive. From the green’s fees to the golfing equipment, there is a large amount of investment involved in being a golfer.  At a golf course located outside an urban city, the course leaders found themselves receiving multiple complaints from golfers weekly regarding some missing items in golf carts. The golfers complained that they often noticed the missing items after they completed the 9th hole on the course. The items reported missing were wallets, cell phones, expensive medicine and even some expensive golf equipment. So, what was going on? Why were these items missing at that particular hole? 
The leaders met and pondered a few questions… 

Could the items have dropped out of their golf carts along the way?
Why was it this particular hole and not a different hole on the course?
Could it be an employee who was taking the items when the golfers were not looking?

Some employee background information on this golf course should help with perspective. This golf course has a clubhouse staff of roughly 25 employees. These individuals work in the pro shop, administrative personnel, events planning and grill staff.  The golf course also has a grounds crew of around 20 people who are there to maintain the course and provide golf carts to the golfers. 
As the leaders evaluated the situation, they wanted to make sure they took all angles into consideration. They did not want to instantly point the finger at an employee at the course, so they thought of recent situation that has been happening at the course. Could it be the habitual criminal fisherman that they call the police on about once a month for fishing in the course ponds? Also, the golf course superintendent (the one who maintains the grounds) had recently hired a couple individuals that had a previous criminal history. Could those employees be involved in this situation?
Think about this situation as a leader. How would you investigate this situation if you were the leader of the golf course? Where do you think the items were going and who was involved?
