Assignment 4: The Research Paper you will Örst submit an abstract of the main points of what you will be covering in your paper. Your Abstract should contain the following parts that are listed below. Topic Sentence: your abstract must contain one sentence that clearly and concisely introduces the topic of the proÖle paper. Content Sentences: your abstract must mention the following Öve main topics of the proÖle: Statistics/Epidemiology, Financial Costs, Anatomy & Physiology/ Etiology, Diagnosis/Treatments/ Prognosis, Conclusions and Findings. This is challenging to write! These sentences should not be too speciÖc, but re×ect broad strokes summaries of each of these main topics. Advice on writing abstracts Please make note of the following tips and tricks: We understand that this is a rough draft and as your research and writing continues over the next few weeks your abstract conclusion may change. It also will help you understand what is expected from you as you prepare your assignment. Your abstract should be clear and concise and contain approximately Öve to seven well written sentences. Be sure to avoid Örst person. The Research Project/Paper for this class is divided into three parts, 1) annotated bibliography, 2) abstract, and 3) Önal paper. The Örst part is the annotated bibliography. An annotation*(see note on annotations vs. abstracts below) is a is a summary and/or evaluation and your annotated bibliography will include a summary and/or evaluation of each of the sources (or references) you will use for your paper. Your paper must include a minimum of Öve sources and these are to be included in this assignment, i.e. you are to write an annotation for each source. You can however use more than Öve sources in your Önal paper if you wish. The reason the annotated bibliography is included as part of the research paper is because writing an annotated bibliography is important in that it provides excellent preparation for the Önal paper. One of the issues regarding any type of research, especially in the biosciences, medical, health/ nutrition and exercise/Ötness Öelds, is the credibility of the sources used, particularly those obtained from various websites. By forcing you to carefully evaluate each of your potential sources, the annotated bibliography helps you determine if in fact the source you chose is credible and also helps you determine how relevant it is too your topic and understand the topic better which will help you write your paper. For this project your annotated bibliography will include: 1) a complete citation for each source, 2) a summary of each source, 3) an assessment/evaluation of each source, and 4) a critique of each source.
