Why Norwegians are making the shift to electric vehicles faster than any other country

Norway is the worlds fifth largest exporter of oil (Knoema, 2021) While this might lead one to conclude that Norwegian consumers should have cheap gas prices for their cars, that is definitely not the case the retail price of gas at the pump was about $8 per gallon in June 2021. Instead of encouraging consumption of a product that the country has an abundance of, the government actively discourages gasoline consumption. Norway has set a goal of eliminating sales of gas and diesel engines by 2025, and is making great progress to achieving this goal.  In May 2021, battery electric vehicles made up over 60% of sales, with the electric Ford Mustang leading all models, and comprising 10% of car sales (Solesvik, 2021).  While government policies, taxes, and incentives are part of the reason Norwegians are buying more electric vehicles than gas powered ones, there are also cultural and social factors behind citizens embrace of electric vehicles.
 
In this paper, explore why Norwegians are making the shift to electric vehicles faster than any other country. Do some research, and while government policies are definitely part of the reason, the paper should explore other reasons as well. Many cities (and some countries) across the world experience regular problems with air pollution, with vehicles being a significant contributor. Based on your research on Norwegians’ adoption of electric vehicles, explain what leaders in other parts of the world might do in order to shift consumers into purchasing electric vehicles.

This paper should be about 1000-1500 words.  There is no need for a cover page or table of contents. Just give your paper a title, include your name, and then provide a well written and well organized paper. The paper can be single spaced, in your favorite 10-12 point font.
 
This paper should be developed uniquely for this assignment, and not recycle information or analysis anyone put together for another assignment in a different course. Do not recycle work.
