“MIDTERM PAPER!!!” Due on Tuesday 10/19/21, 

NO LATE PAPERS WILL BE ACCEPTED!!!! (I would start now, it is not hard but it will take some time) NO REWRITES ALLOWED!!!!
Best practices suggest that you simply outline your arguments 1st and make notes of what kinds of quotes you would like to include. And find your scholarly resource articles early!!!

In the Introduction to Black Studies by Karenga text, there is a list of questions at the end of the 1st chapter. Pick 4 of the 5 questions (they are also listed below) to use for your Midterm. Be clear to fully write out the questions that you picked on your cover page.
1. Discuss the four basic thrusts of the student movement which led to the founding of Black Studies.
 
2. Discuss the emergence of Black Studies at SFSU. Identify the major groups involved and the contribution of Dr. Nathan Hare.
 
3. What were the early academic and political concerns of the advocates of Black Studies?
 
4. What were the early objectives of Black Studies?
 
5. Discuss the 7 major contributions of Black Studies which establish its academic and social relevance.  

A. In your midterm paper you must use at least 2 (or more) scholarly resources (Journal articles tend to be your safest option. Use the library database and the options reviewed in the library research methods lecture)
 
B. The midterm paper must be at least 4 pages long (1000 words) excluding the cover page and works cited page. Method of citation should be in MLA format. (Google it)
C. 1 direct quotation to the Karenga reading for each question (a minimum total of 4) must be included in the paper and identified with (K#1, K#2, etc.. at the end of the reference). 
D. 1 direct quotation for each question to any “In Class” (a total of 4) topic, proverb, reading (excluding the Karenga reading) or movie. It must be carefully detailed (just don’t be vague, if I have to question whether the topic was even engaged you must remember that my opinion, in this case, matters more than you may want to admit) and identified with (IC#1, IC#2 etc…at the end of the reference).
E. 1 of the 2 Scholarly Resources must be quoted in each question ( a total of 4 –or more for the entire paper1 per question minimum)— (This is in addition to the K# and IC# requirement) must be referenced (quoted) and identifiers with (SR#1 &SR#2 at the end of the reference).
To keep the papers consistent in form for grading ALL PAPERS SHOULD FOLLOW THE FOLLOWING FORMAT.******************************************************************************************
1. Title Page with your questions literally written out.2. In the paper you must literally write Question #1 (Then write out the approved question fully i.e.) Followed by your research with the objectives and identifiers included in a few paragraphs. 3. Did you include your formatted Works Cited?
4. As you fulfilled each requirement did you place the appropriate identifier at the end of the sentence (IC#3)? All identifiers must be in a sequence K#1, K#2, K#3, K#4, IC#1, IC#2, IC#3, IC#4, SR#1, SR#2, SR#3, SR#4 etc.
5. Are the integration of your quotes meaningful?
