I decided to talk about the section called A century of Warming within chapter one. This section stood out to me the most because it elaborates on the re-emerge of Global warming due to humans. Ever since the ice age, the earth has been naturally getting warm, but for the first time after 1975 human creations began to take its toll on the Earth. I enjoyed reading this section because I had recently discovered that the ice caps in Greenland have officially melted past the point of return; this was caused by humans, we are a virus to Earth. The fact that there has been an immense amount of evidence to prove that global warming had increased due to the burning of fossil fuels since 1975, is heartbreaking. There are many ways to help slow down global warming, but it has gotten to the point where doing everything in our power to help prevent the Earth from getting hotter will not eliminate global warming. Without the removal of certain heat-trapping greenhouse gasses from big industries like Pepsi, as well as many other agricultural industries, then we can never truly put an end to global warming.
Your response to one other student post: You had a very well thought out discussion post and although I did not write about the Hockey stick graph, I still found it interesting as well. It is indeed very shocking to see our beautiful Earth slowly deteriorate especially by our own hand. The constant increase in global warming that we humans are experiencing on a daily basis is very heartbreaking to look at and without the removal of big industries with high pollution rates such as Coca-Cola and Nestle then the world will continue to heat up. Great post!
please only do a 150 word post for the disscusson and 100 words for a peer response which ill have below

While doing the weekly reading on The Uninhabitable Earth by David Wallace-Wells, a few key things stood out to me from section: Ethics at the End of the World and The Anthropic Principal. In the first section, Wallace-Wells speaks of a man who is educated enough to understand that the world is on its way to end and instead of fighting against it with every penny and degree of education he has, he chose to live off-grid and become somewhat of an influence who focus’ on spreading the word about the end of the world and how he thinks it is best to cope with what is coming. “Because while the world will not likely end, and civilization is almost surely more resilient than McPherson believes, the unmistakable degradation of the planet will invariably inspire many more prophets like him, whose calls of imminent environmental apocalypse will start to seem reasonable to many more reasonable people,” (Wallace-Wells 228). Although he is not clear on exactly how this may happen, he does seem to clearly think that it will. This stuck out to me because it is a passionately thought out result of years of studying a subject that relates to life as we know it. For someone like McPherson to give up and tell us all how to do the same in the best way he thinks possible, is alarming at most and like the author wrote, the closer we get to “the end” the more people will ely on those who predicted what is to come, whether they sound insane or not. My favorite quote of this book and one that I think outlines the running theme comes from The Anthropic Principal, “That the solutions are obvious, and available, does not mean the problem is anything but overwhelming,” (Wallace-Wells 252). This quote stuck out to me because I have been feeling this way throughout the entire book. Every time I would read parts that made me want to get up and start saving Earth right now, I would instantly become overwhelmed by how much work would need to be done, how much help I would need to do it, and how many resources would be needed to make it happen. I can agree with the author that we have a lot of work to do and I hope we can all work together to get it done.
